ECON 390

Space Economics -- The current state of the Space Economy, how it is organized, financed, and regulated. Activities can be divided into two broad categories: Space-for-Earth and Space-for-Space applications.  Students from Econ and other disciplines work on projects on the growing set of commercial actors and services operating in Low Earth Orbit (LEO); planned future lunar and deep-space extractive industries; Innovation and venture capital contributions to the commercialization of space; Satellites and services; Risk mitigation to secure the sustainability of scientific and commercial activities in space; Spaceports/launching sites; Public-private partnerships; Space stations and innovation in microgravity; Spacefaring nations and geopolitical implications. 

Topics vary by semester. Prerequisite: Economics 101D; check individual semester offerings for additional prerequisites. Instructor permission usually an option.
